I think what is the best and most annoying part of the show is how Isaac has an analytical version of the emotional spectrum and we can decipher his emotional state based on his actions which appear purely logical but have alterations to standard pattern behaviour, displaying humanity and emotions

Watching Orville for the first time, why would an ensign take command of the ship? Even temporarily while Lamarr makes his way over. There’s other higher ranking officers on the bridge. The show usually has a clear transfer of command. Did I miss something?
